Heathinvader thank you for posting the two versions of "Wonderwall". This song is the ring tone on my phone. It is one of my all time favorite songs. I love both these versions. "Wonderwall" gets tuned up when I am in the car.

"Fear of Heights" is a local Philly/Delaware/South Jersey song that got lots of air play on WMMR. It was a fluke I happen to find this. It has been ages since I listened to my 45 of this song. The Alan Mann Band released three singles, two albums and two EP's in the early 80's.
In October 1987, Alan Mann either fell or jumped out of a window of his South Philly apartment during a fire. He died as a result.

Enjoyed the song. Did Ed have some interaction with them in his days living in Jersey?

Enjoyed the song. Did Ed have some interaction with them in his days living in Jersey? I doubt it. Note to self don't leave more than one Skynyrd Frynds tab open and post at two in the morning. Oops! Grayghost, it was posted in the wrong thread. I spent two hours searching, cropping, cleaning up and posting those 2018 Meet and Greet Posts.

Mother Love Bone featuring Andrew Wood (ex-Malfunkshun) and several members of Green River. They were on their way to becoming one of the biggest rock bands ever, when Andrew suddenly passed away as the result of a heroin overdose in 1990. Shockingly, he wasn't an addict. He didn't take such substances often, according to his girlfriend, friends, an family. He was more into music, movies, and video games.
Andrew Wood kind of looked like Ronnie VanZant at some times, as you can see in this concert footage from 1989:
Here are some documentary films about the band and Andrew Wood, in case you're interested.
Some members of Mother Love Bone later went on to form a new band which ended up hitting the big time next to Nirvana: a band called Pearl Jam. Sometimes Pearl Jam plays some Mother Love Bone, but not too often:

The latest from Steve Perry!!! Corporate radio probably won’t play it much, which is a crying shame!

Today marks nines years since the passing of singer songwriter Doug Fieger. At the age of 57 he died of lung cancer. He is best known for the song 'My Sharona'. Last night I ran across some more of his early stuff in the band Sky, his Knack bandmate tweeted and posted on Facebook.

A while back I stumbled upon a 1970 record by a band called Blue Mountain Eagle, which formed out of the ashes of The New Buffalo Springfield (a band formed by Buffalo Springfield drummer Dewey Martin). There’s a song on there that really reminds me of a song that we are all very familiar with (at least the intro and chord progression). You be the judge:
I just wonder if a certain Mr. King might have heard this song and later had a dream inspired by it.

From my research the music of Blue Mountain Eagle is the same genre as Strawberry Alarm Clock. In August 1969, Blue Mountain Eagle was personally signed to Atlantic Records by Ahmet Ertegun. The song 'Troubles' was written by Carol Meyers wife of musician Augie Meyers and lead guitarist/vocalist of the band Bob 'BJ' Jones. This band only recored one album.

That's an early song by them! I'd totally forgotten about this one. Thanks for the trip down memory lane Jersey Girl I had a VHS tape full of videos and interviews of the band. I wish I could find the same thing on digital support.

This morning I heard "Radioactive" by the Firm on the radio. It has been a long time since I have listened to it.
