I decided to select a song performed by two different artists. You decide which version you like best.
First up are two versions of Skynyrd's 'Tuesday's Gone' performed by others.
Hank William's Jr has a version.
And here is Gregg Allman's performance.

Skynyrd's version of Tuesday's Gone is fn exceptional. Both other versions are good but you can't upgrade from perfection. One of my top 5 favorite songs.
JG, I'm going with Metallica's version. Not a huge metal fan but I do like Metallica and this version of this classic, hands down. I like this thread. 😁

One of the most popular songs to be performed by others is 'Louie Louie'. A man named Richard Berry wrote and recorded the song in 1955. The best known version is by the Kingsmen recorded and released in 1963.
And here are the Sonics doing the song. Thanks Brettlowden for including them on your Greatest American Bands list.
In keeping with the sixties we need to add Paul Revere & The Raiders to the mix.

Two more versions of 'Louie Louie'.
First up the Beach Boys! 'Louie Louie' shows the band can rock.
Next the Kinks' version.

Tom Petty has a version of "Steppin' Stone". So do the Sex Pistols. Technically they have two, actually. One rare soundcheck recording of the song being played with Johnny Rotten doing the lead vocals. And one rare audience recording of Sid Vicious singing the song (not playing bass, just singing).

Stepping Stone - definitely the Monkees, although Tom Petty's version is pretty good too.

Wow, I did not know the Sex Pistols had a version of (I'm Not Your)Steppin' Stone. Thanks for posting Heathinvader. The best known version of this rock song was by a pop band. And yet a punk band had performed it. That is what is great about music.

I like the Allman Brothers' version of "I Feel Free". As for "She Has Funny Cars" I was not fond of either version. Thanks for posting them Heathinvader.

For some reason I have been on a "Jackie Blue" kick. Every day for the last ten days or so daily I have been listening to the Ozark Mountain Daredevils song. Ironic a frynd of mine from college posted the video on a Frynds of music group we belong to. It got me thinking is anyone else recorded this great song.
Version One: Ozark Mountain Daredevils' album version.
Next up Ozark Mountain Daredevils performing the song live on Old Grey Whistlein 1976 London, England. There was another video where the sound was cleaned up a bit. Not sure if I should have posted it instead.
The Smashing Pumpkins have an interesting version. I had to listen to the song twice. The drums are a bit too much in places for my liking. I do not care for the vocals. But the song is introduced to an audience who normally would not be familiar with it.
