societyofrock.com/rickey-medlockes-the-seasons-is-lynyrd-skynyrds-best-kept-secret/Rickey: A True Treasure Originally added to Lynyrd Skynyrd as a session musician for vocals and drum work from southern rock band Blackfoot, Rickey Medlocke brings so much to the band’s sound and style. With not only stellar guitar work but incredible, melodic vocals like that in “The Seasons” from Skynyrd’s First: The Complete Muscle Shoals Album, Rickey adds a soft quality to the southern rock band that Ronnie and the boys always valued. Featuring unreleased and rare tracks from the Muscle Shoals days in the early 70’s, the album, originally titled Skynyrd’s First and…Last, was re-released 20 years later as The Complete Muscle Shoals abum. Providing musical art like “The Seasons,” “Was I Right Or Wrong,” White Dove” and others, the tracks brought fans closure following the first compilation’s untimely end when it went out of print. With recordings from as early as 1971, this was an album to be fiercely grateful for, especially with a track like “The Seasons” letting Rickey Medlocke’s vast and varied talent shine!

I think Rickey strummed an acoustic on one or both of the hits he wrote on that album.

His publicist has to be involved with this somehow. No actual music critic or historian would call anything he contributed early on “Skynyrd’s best kept secret”

So true Brandon. Forces are in play to make Rickless Lynn Green a staple in the Lynyrd Skynyrd Legacy. The only damn thing medlockey has accomplished with the Lynyrd Skynyrd Legacy is butchering Allen Collins written and composed compositions, every night. Medlockey is a sad farce to anything Skynyrd. Sawed off Johnnee -Roy and Rickless stand out there on stage like they have accomplished something. All that the Odd Couple has accomplished is singing and playing what far more talented Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musicians wrote for them to learn and copy. If any bit of Jon Jon or Ricless' Blackfeets stuff was worthy of hearing, professionally, the Odd couple would be playing their very own "Original" material. All that the odd couple can do is play what Ronnie, Gary and Allen created.
I had fears that this would be the route that the "Cant write a hit song duo" would take, after Gary died. And they have. The bottom line is that the estates need the money so they let the Odd couple do what they want. just keep sending checks. The kids need money!!! And the Hell shyt Whiskey is disgraceful. Buncha damn drunks selling snake oil.

Gary should have pulled the plug before he kicked the bucket. Johnny "Pop N Fresh" Van-Zant and Rickey 5-HEAD should be opening up at Ringling Brothers Circus or Ripleys Believe It Or Not

That’s one secret I wished they would’ve kept in the bag.
