I wonder if Artimus is using tracks. The behavior this forum member describes really sounds like it. I mean there’s tons of bands that do it. I hate it myself, but it’s a bit surprising if that band is using tracks. I know they can play, just wonder if Artimus can’t do it. Any man past 70 is almost always gonna struggle and especially drums. Only a few exceptions I can think of is maybe Tommy Aldridge who is an absolute animal. But, he may not be 70. I hope he’s not, but if he needs the money, do what u got to do.

He wanted to FEEL it and not just hear it. If he STOPPED using in-ears completely, it's almost certain they aren't using tracks. The cues would be audible to some of the audience if they used them with open monitors.

He just turned 70 in April. He did the same drum solo he does with the Dregs that has a track he plays to. The band and him are so incredible.

I would like to see him, but he never gets out to the southwest. Furthest I have seen him is TX.

I last saw his band about 6 years ago. They were tight AF. No backing tracks. Guitars learned the OMFTR version of Free Bird. After their show I went by and said hey to the pickers and mentioned I’d never heard anyone play Steve’s part in Free Bird and they both looked at me kinda shocked and told me I was the first person to ever say that to them and they really appreciated my noticing that. If I’m being honest, Artimus was the weakest link in the music. He was overplaying everything like he was trying too hard to make everyone understand this was the ARTIMUS PYLE Band. But, he was playing back in the town he grew up in and had lots of family there he hadn’t seen in decades, so I guess that’s understandable.
