Hm, well. What I like is the fact that Artimus Pyle is standing strong. Fit and healthy, he looks hard as a rock. The guy is in his seventies, survived this kind of life, wow.
The music is, ahem, it is not finished, isn't it? This is apparently way to psychedelic for my kind of taste. But whatever it is supposed to be, at least it is something fresh. Pyle, drummer, timekeeper. Yeah.

When I first started watching the video I thought it was Marshall Pyle, not Chris. I am surprised to find out it is Chris. He is an awesome drummer like his dad. I've never known or seen him play a guitar ever. Marshall use to and I guess that is why I thought it was him.
It is kind of interesting it is described as "Southern Fried Tribal Boogie Album" when it does not sound anything like Southern and more like reggae or something tribal like he said. But definitely not Southern rock for sure. Trying to redefine the boundaries maybe.
Chris is a unique individual. I never really saw him as full tilt hippie back in the day, but Marshall surely is. And now Chris is coming out in a way...
Years ago when Chris came of age, he did something dangerous when he traveled to Africa and basically hiked across Africa going from village to village in his effort to learn first hand African Rhythms from the locals he met along his trek.
It was shortly after this african drumming safari that he joined his father on drums in a band called the Fenwicks, one of the worst sounding bands Artimus ever created. Awesome drumming but a horrible front man Steven Schub who was weird as hell and just bizarre on purpose. His singing and his songs absolutely sucked! The entire time I was around this band just drove me nuts and I kept wondering what the hell was wrong with these guys? Why create music that drives people to want to do homicide?
I D F war criminal Steven Schub was a huge waste of time for everyone. So glad the Pyle's finally separated from his insanity. The guy was scary but has since been trying to resurrect his public image and make a new life for himself while his insane Fenwicks fades into the past and into oblivion where it should have stayed in the first place.
This new band PyleDriver is looking like to me to be a slap back at the former Atlanta based band called Artimus Pyledriver band, a heavy metal band. It is like Artimus and the Pyle's are taking back their name now that Artimus Pyledriver band is dead and gone.
You know in his band Artimus is back to doing Southern music because those in front of him are doing it. But it seems like everyone else Artimus gets behind is into wacky off the wall weird shit. And this is no exception.
The following is the band I think the Pyle's are reclaiming their family name from:
Artimus Pyledriver
Country of origin: CSA, Atlanta, Georgia Status: Split-up Genre: Sludge/Southern Metal Years active: 2001-2007
The band split-up in the end of 2007. Dave Slocum and Kevin Bond went to form Red River Revival. Jimmy Hall and Mike Faulkner formed Bigfoot.
The band name is a word play on Artimus Pyle, who played drums in southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd.
