At :21 mark- "the stipulation was that WE would do it if I could take control of it and produce it and help write the songs."
Rickey makes it sound like the new band just popped up out of no where and threw the offer to Rickey to form an all new Blackfoot band without two living members Charlie Hargrett and Greg T. Walker, and that Rickey only went along with it all if he could take FULL control of it and PRODUCE it and scratch help- write the songs.
Basically his spin is bullshyt. This whole band was his idea. As was the sin of intentionally cutting out living original band members. This just shows how low Rickey will go, how someone like him can not be trusted and can not do the right thing because of his own problem with power and control as well as anger, hatred, and revenge toward founding Blackfoot band members Greg and Charlie and even deceased Jakson Spires.
Another hilarious hypocrisy Rickey is now faced with is his age. Many years ago the original Blackfoot band was broken up because Rickey's personal manager Al Nalley said Charlie Hargrett was looking too old and his guitar playing sounded too old. He said Blackfoot needed to modernize and catch up to where music was going then.
And this is precisely the same scenario Rickey is faced with today. Today it is HIM who is too old but he will not admit it. So what does he do? He hires an entirely new band of wet behind the ears kids to be Blackfoot because as Rickey says in the video to try and reach out to a younger audience.
He mentions how classic rock bands are all fading away so his idea to keep the "classic" Blackfoot songs alive pushed forward into new younger generations of PAYING fans is to hire a band of really young kids to do it for him.
Bottom line is this new band is all about power and control and even greed to some degree. It has nothing to do with honor or even honoring the past Blackfoot band. It is Rickey's new way to rip them off and keep himself relevant if possible as he turns into an over the hill senile old fart who should be retired in the same way he did it to Charlie Hargrett. Rickey Mudlocke is a walking Talking hypocrite from hell.
But thanks for posting this video. I enjoyed it enough to get pissed off about it as Rickey offends just being himself!

I still say the new Blackfoot Band should be called the Blackfeet Boys. They are a cheap rip off Rickey needs to go back to being the crypt keeper

Saw LS on TV recently, think it was a tribute to the troops or the Gatlinburg Dolly Parton fundraiser show. RM had his hair done up on top of his head in a ponytail thing. Dude looked ridiculous.

aside from what Medlocke thinks, says and does, the great majority of bands work under some sort of control, some visible, damaging and some less obvious, is not a unique situation with him
you can go from basically a dictatorship type, and even on those can be few degrees of what control you'll see, to bands that want to work in a more involved, democratic way, usually the more members there are, the more chances for more people to raise their hands and challenge things, but even if it is not that plain obvious from the outside, things are most of the time set, everybody knows their place, lots of people contribute and speak up, but usually there is a set order of power when it comes to deciding things, it doesn't mean is the right way to operate
even within bands, there are lots of types of leaderships, some are all out controlling, having the last word or their way or no way, to others that makes you think that you are counted on or allow for all opinions, some confuse things and confuse being a leader with having full control
we have bands in which the leader just sets into that role(could have been the founder or not)and the rest follows even contributing perhaps in a bigger degree, but follow the vision that the leader creates for them, while there are others in which members seem to go out of their way to assert themselves like the soul and spirit of the whole thing, not everybody assume their true role or how the public see things, when it comes to changes in members, there are quite a few examples of how things can be done good or bad, add a bit of influence from outsiders showing some numbers and pretty soon everything can turn pretty messy, the last thing in their minds is usually to think if you care for others, if you cut out some from working or making money, there is plenty of egocentric people in the music business, that surround themselves withe people that tells them how good and great they are, usually with an agenda, knowing that as long they can inflate your ego, they can actually control you better and get away with what is important for them, sometimes a member start to create their own following being by creativity, writing or stage presence, and the public creates this figure that perhaps the person who thinks is the leader won't appreciate much, some bands work with friction some start to tear themselves apart as soon as they start or achieve some success, some recognize the influence of others and their contributing power to potentiate the band, some resent to be put in their true place.
bands or old bands in the last 20 years or so, have gone from being a band to a part of a machine to generate profit from every which way they can, a plain business, as lots of them are having members not willing to go out on tour due to age or health issues, some might not have their members around anymore, we would probably start to see lots of them getting very creative to keep the money rolling in, more so than we are seeing now, it will all depends on how people react to those changes, lots of people wanna keep hearing the songs live and if some of those bands stop, those songs or a great majority, will not be heard live anymore, most of those musicians we love are getting into their 70s but there is money to be made, so some sort of a band will have to be around.
the good leaders know that they are part of a band and the success, recognition, is the result of a band effort, they will be nothing without the band, they can commercialize their talent as a solo artist and some can be very successful but the band chemistry is usually impossible to replicate, and lots of their success usually falls into doing live what they created with the band.

I will interrupt the thread with this little ditty. For all you Rickey fans, do not despair, he is in the video. After all, this is his creation. Not too sure who the bleached blonde is at the end but she sure can belt one out...

Not too sure who the bleached blonde is at the end but she sure can belt one out... I think she's his wife. Isn't that what was said in the other thread? This new "reformed" Blackfoot is beyond ridiculous. These guys could be anyone. I wonder if any of them could have named so much as one Blackfoot tune before joining the "new" band.
