Link to eBay listingI'm going on the assumption that this thing is genuine since there are pics of Arti singing the letter and holding it. I'm curious why he would write something like this. What's the point?

What's the point? I was actually working on a post about this very issue.
In my opinion now that Lynyrd Skynyrd has been inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame, there are unscrupulous business people out there trying to make a buck off band members.
Notice the source of this item?
eBay identity Goldenera25- Bergen County, New Jersey, United States
There are several people I have been documenting doing the same thing.
It appears they approach certain band members with their invented products like this BS letter or other items such as photos, drum sticks, and drum heads and guitar pick guards.
You can find photos of these band members sitting at a table with a stack of them laid out in front of the band member to sign them all leading me to believe that Artimus and Bob Burns are both taking some cash to do this, otherwise like you said what is the point?
You beat me to the point Blue!

Thanks for confirming my suspicions Cagey. Anything for a buck! I have no intention of purchasing that phoney letter but if I did, I'd cut out Arti's signature and I would have it matted and framed along with a nice photo of Arti. And I would put that worthless letter in the recycle box, to eventually be made into toilet paper or whatever.

Here's a reply I posted on the LSD forum a little over a year ago, when someone else inquired about Artimus and Ebay.
"It is NOT Artimus selling these items himself. It is someone else who has paid Artimus to sign them. Occasionally, Artimus agrees to what you could call a "sitting-fee". Where he gets paid a "One-time flat rate" to sign a bunch of stuff for someone who intends on selling these items. I've been with Artimus more than once while he's done this. I've seen him sign as many drum heads, or guitars, etc. as he can sign in 1 hour. Artimus charges the guy for the sitting-fee, cause he knows the guy is trying to make money off of him. I will say, they are all authentic autographs, however, they don't seem to really be selling very well. As far as him signing RVZ, his reasoning for doing it is because he feels that RVZ deserves the recognition, and without him, he wouldn't be signing autographs at all. He feels he owes all of his success to RVZ."
