Original Skynyrd Frynds post #2017 July 30, 1999:
From: Tim & Debbie Lindsey
Hello Everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for all the support and love that you have given to my wife, to me and to APB.
I regret to have to tell you that circumstances beyond my control have caused me to have to stay home and off the road for the time being. In order to do that, I have had to make a decision to leave APB.
APB will continue on in full force, so please go on giving the band your enthusiastic support as always, and I will miss you all as well as the band.
Just to let everyone know, I'll be playing with Randall Hall in The Randall Hall Band, aka Caliber. We are currently performing regularly in a local Jacksonville club.
We'd love to have you come out and give us your support, too. So please email us here for more information or to just keep in touch:

We have some things of interest planned for the future and we'd love to continue to give you EVEN MORE GREAT MUSIC!
Here's to a future filled with great southern rock music and APB and The Randall Hall Band!
We love you all!

This past weekend I went to Jax to catch the RANDALL HALL BAND and then scoot on out to Jax Beach to catch another show at the Old Ponte Vedra Club where a former member of .38 SPECIAL was performing. Then I found out about a surprise show also happening in Jax Beach just minutes away from the other show and regrettably I missed the RANDALL HALL BAND this time, but made up for it some by the surprise showing of the ALL POINTS BULLETIN BAND. Timmy Lindsey is now performing with the RANDALL HALL BAND. Taking Timmy's position on bass guitar for the time being in the APB band is Buzzy Meekins, a former member of DANNY JOE BROWN's old solo band called the VIGILANTIES, which went on to record his solo album with the song EDGE OF SUNDOWN on it, and later Buzzy wound up in a version of the MOLLY HATCHET band. Artimus was white hot this night, playing with fire and intensity tempered with determination. His performance was awesome. Greg Baril was sort of taking it easy this night and not really pouring it on like Artimus was. I must say this band misses the talent and abilities of Tim Lindsey. Buzzy is a good bass player, but he is no Timmy Lindsey! Timmy has stage presence and charisma and is a dynamite performer and very talented bass player who not only keeps the beat but adds in melody and harmonics to his solid skillful performance. Buzzy is more of a run-of-the-mill type of bass player in my opinion. APB will certainly miss what Timmy brought into the band and it will be very hard to find a replacement who can live up his calibre. In any case, it appears that APB will be hitting the road starting today to do some gigs up in the north eastern US starting in Buffalo, NY. Where they will be going from there who knows, but keep an eye out up in that area for APB! I got a chance to talk to Greg Baril and found out he has been hanging out in North Carolina recording an album. I don't think it is one of his albums, it is more like an album he has been hired to perform on and from what Greg said it should be a smoker! Speaking of a smoker! Greg has also been hanging out on Cedar Key lately and you should see the smoker he picked up there! A package and a half ready to play! They say Cedar key is good for the soul and from what I saw it is good for a few other things too! Say Greg, when are you going back??? I think I'll join you and see if some of that Cedar Key spirit can rub off!!! Everbody wants some, and I want some too!!! And for those of you who might be heading to Jacksonville soon, stop by the Paxon Lounge and see the RANDALL HALL BAND!!! You won't regret it!
Something I completely forgot about mentioning last night.... I took a few minutes with Artimus between breaks to chat about some things, and deliver some photos to him from the DANNY JOE BROWN benefit show -and Charlie, yours will be on the way soon - and I happened to get a real nice one of Artimus and Danny Joe head to head sharing the same microphone while singing FREE BIRD. Artimus had with him a package of CD's he had just received from Ron O'Brien of MCA records. In the package was 2 of the newly remastered versions of NUTHIN' FANCY and GIMME BACK MY BULLETS. Artimus was all smiles about these new versions! For many years he had been unhappy about the sound quality of his drum tracks on the original versions of these albums, but is now very happy and satisfied with how much better his drum tracks sound on the new versions. His thanks and appreciation goes out to Ron O'Brien for making a huge difference in how the band's music is now being handled by MCA Records. Artimus was also impressed with the new packaging of the album and that each of them contained 2 new tracks previously not available before. I believe Artie said some of them were live versions and he was very satisfied with them as well. He also made a point about the newly added story booklet with new photos each album had. In one of the albums, I believe the NUTHIN' FANCY one - not sure - he showed me a photo of the band standing there having their photo taken and in this photo Artimus is holding what appears to be a cigarette in his hand. Artimus was surprised by this as he did not smoke them and did not remember having had his picture taken holding a cigarette. He is fairly certain that he is holding it just because a photo was being taken and possibly did it as a means of cutting up for the camera though in the photo he appears to be acting very reserved and solemn which is unusual for a man as energetic and outgoing as Artimus is. In any case, hats off to Ron O'Brien for really turning things around for the band out at MCA and for putting his heart and soul into making things right for this band and their wonderful music. If you have not yet purchased your copies of these albums DO IT SOON!!! You will not regret it!!! Another album Ron O'Brien is working on is a compilation of solo material from ACB, Steve Gaines, Artimus Pyle Band, and maybe some other stuff thrown in there, but this one should be out soon.
THANKS RON!
