Love all his work in skynyrd.
But I think of a great moment is him reverting to his military training I'm sure after the crash and going for help.
Another moment is seeing vids of him and Bob drumming together on some cruise ship. What a humble man there, basically showing himself and bob as equals. Not putting himself or his work above Bob's work and history with the band.

I've wondered if this is too small detail to mention, but... I love the way Artimus was finishing off Free Bird in 1977 shows (final crashes)! (At least he didn't do it in Knebworth '76 and Old Grey Whistle Test '75, so I'm assuming he introduced it later) He was jumping very high, right away from his sitting position It looked very cool and intense! One more on his agility skills I've created 3 GIFs capturing this, I hope these are allowed on the forum. Anaheim - 08/27/77 Day on the Green - 07/02/77 Absury Park - 07/13/77 This is bloody brilliant š!!!

Been playing music since '89 and my first instrument was drums. Arty was and is a musical inspiration. Switched to guitar over the years and really am not that good, wish I could play like AC but I digress.
My favorite Arty moment was seeing APB last year at a Humane Society benefit in Erie, PA. I'd never seen APB and they DELIVERED. You can tell he has a genuine love of the music; he had a smile on his face the ENTIRE set and was so proud of his band. Loves the fans, too.

I love Artimus on a lot of songs, but I think my favorite visual comes at 5:20 of the Oakland Freebird, where he methodically goes off on the crash cymbals with Ronnie singing in front of him...so freakin' cool... Helpful Smile

Forgive me for replying so late to this one but......can anyone tell me how high the stage was for the "Day On The Green" performance in Oakland, CA on July 3, 1977?

Just watched an old APB video I shot back in 1998 I think, and during a break in the music Artimus comes out to the front center mic to talk to the crowd a little bit and introduce the band. As he introduced Tim Lindsey, Artimus says "The best bass player I've ever played with in my life Tim Lindsey" And that's a quote.
And, if you want to get some Skynyrd music chills, just take a listen to Mike Estes tear into the opening of Simple Man and starts to sing. Its one of those songs he can carry well.
This band I'm watching is Artimus, Greg Baril, Tim Lindsey, and Mike Estes.

Ok, this is the coolest Skynyrd related āthingā I have seen or read in years! I mean that. Iāve never seen this whole move Artimus does until just now. Thatās some serious showmanship and in particular for a drummer to inject himself into the show with guitarist. I knew he was animated and would do stunts. But, thatās a move Iāve never see another drummer do. Thinking Tommy Aldridge or a Tommy Lee hasnāt done that. Impressive!
